♦ General Questions about Online English & Japanese Lessons

Q: How can I have Online English & Japanese Conversation Lessons?

A: Any smartphone, PC and TV with a Skype App can handle one-to-one online English & Japanese conversation.
Skype is a free app (telephone feature needs payment but it’s unnecessary) that is used worldwide and here as well in EIGORU, it’s a free software where you can talk with video and see each other’s face.

The student must have a computer with a webcam, a microphone and speakers or a headset, but notebook or laptop PCs do already have these features. If you have difficulty in hearing, then you can use a headset with integrated microphone and headphones.

However, if the student is a child and there’s a parent or guardian beside the student while studying, then do NOT use a headset. We highly recommend to use speakers so both the child and the parent or guardian can hear the teacher’s voice.

When you want to see your teacher’s face, then please ask to turn on the webcam. So you can check if the teacher is focus on teaching you.

● To download Skype for Windows PC/Laptop, please click HERE ▶.
● Type the key words like “How to install Skype” on your search engine or YouTube to find more information on how to download and install it.
● If you want to know how to use Skype, then please type on your search engine or YouTube the keywords like “How to use Skype.”

Q: Why most Online English & Japanese Schools have Expensive Lesson Price?

A: As for the price of different online English & Japanese schools, some have 1 lesson (25 minutes) for $20, but others have $2 only per 25 minutes. The difference is not from the teachers but from the cost of  the school’s structure.

1. The reason for the high school
Many of the traditional English & Japanese classrooms such as in front of the station have quite expensive lesson fees than in one-to-one online lessons. There’s really a big pricing difference between studying in the traditional classrooms and online English & Japanese lessons so it becomes a problem to many students who want to learn English & Japanese. Furthermore, 5 dollar rate per hour is not enough for the online teachers who reside in Japan with deduction for management operations.

2. First, the difference between cheap classes from traditional school is less than $10 per 50-minute lesson where teachers in the Philippines only use Skype for free and give direct lessons to Japanese students. Therefore, we can take advantage of the exchange rate of USD and PHP in the Philippines as well as the cheapness of salary in their country and we are able to provide much way cheaper fees than Japan’s traditional schools.

a. Reason for schools with slightly higher fees
It is the difference of the cost which basically depends on the management of a school. Most of the cost is from gathering teachers, payment for the house rental, utility bills and other labor costs of the management. They sometimes need to have 2 different internet provider in case of power outage or Internet access service interruption. Some of these schools also buy a generator in case of power failure and it runs with gasoline.

Also, their management need to attract new teachers by giving certain fixed salary even though there’s no student yet. For this reason, the lesson fee is much higher. However, this kind of schools which collect teachers in one place mostly give cheaper salary to teachers than in private teaching, so teachers frequently apply to other schools. Also, an excellent instructor can easily gather students at popular tendency and work independently as a private tutor.

❋ About the Generator effect
Brown out = it’s power outages that often happen in the Philippines especially if there’s a typhoon (water shortages has become that power saving of government with guidance or they give notice in advance, but there’s also a frequent power failure that become a practice). As a countermeasure for this, there are multiple contracts of installations and generators for internet connection but in reality once there’s a power failure across the region and the base station for communication is down then all is useless.

b. The reason for the value of the exceptional school
Basically, our teachers with a PC and wired internet connection who are living in their own homes and can give online lessons directly to students really help us to save extra cost from rental house, utility bills and manager’s labor cost.

In addition, here in EIGORU-en, teachers are the ones who take full responsibility of their class schedules and manage their students applying our school’s policies without extra cost of money and they receive their full salary as per successful lessons.

c. Difference between the lowest fee per hour
Almost online schools offer students who want to talk in English & Japanese a monthly course payment of 50 dollar for 25 minutes on weekdays. It’s like $2.5 a day. However, since students can’t take classes every day, this kind of payment system is really a big advantage for school’s profit.

It is good for people who speak every day, but for those who do not speak everyday it will eventually become expensive. In any case, since the school can display the price per 25 minutes cheaply, most schools adopt this “course bulk buying method.” The ticket system generally looks cheap as the expiration date is one month and the more you purchase it, the more price you set.

d. Reason why EIGORU is the Online School which gives best salary to teachers and with real cheap lesson price for students
EIGORU is completely different when it comes to system structure from among online schools.
Please read the reason on this page ⇒ Know more about EIGORU-en

Q: What is the difference between one-to-one English & Japanese Lessons and Group Lessons?

A:
(1) Conditions that tend to have more than one lesson
Among the group of 3 to 10 people, the person who can talk most or the person who wants to talk a lot, may take most of the class time.

Depending on the teacher, questions will be asked to each student and of course the time is running while waiting for each response. The problem here is that the waiting time will be wasted for other students. Also, as a rule of thumb, students who are reluctant will depend on others who can talk a lot, so some people will stop talking on their own.

Although, friendship and fun could build up, but the English & Japanese level is still the same. However, it depends on different situations.

(2) Conditions of One-to-one Lesson
A better pattern
First of all, since it is one-to-one (1:1) lesson, the teacher can understand and focus on the student’s abilities properly, so teacher will understand and respond to student’s English & Japanese needs, such as pointing out student’s weaknesses and how to gradually empower the student’s English & Japanese skills. Also, as they know each other’s way and habit, things go smoothly.

And as a feature, if you take a lesson every day for a long time, regardless of age, it seems that relationships like best friends are often involved.

Not to mention that the purpose of the student is to purely improve English & Japanese conversation, especially for those individuals who are required to learn such as TOEIC, Eiken, TOEFL, etc. as preparation of qualification, preparation for study abroad, business trip using technical terms, and review the basic grammar. It is the same as individual tutoring by a private teacher teacher for examination in Japan.

Not a good pattern
Following a lesson in text, if you go through the lessons routinely, you will lose the feeling of learning while having fun, it’s just like listening to a CD. If the student is not comfortable with the teacher, then student can easily change a new teacher.

Also, with full-time tutor system, teachers post their lesson availability that’s good for 1 month and for the school with attendance system, it’s difficult for students to book popular teachers and usually, student must book a lesson 1 month ahead of the lesson schedule. And sometimes students waste their time in finding various teachers by listening to the recorded teacher’s voice and they were not satisfied and complained on bulletin boards that the teacher’s voice is different during the class.

In online English & Japanese conversation, it is often said that one-to-one English & Japanese conversation refers to not being fixed by a teacher like a private tutor for a certain period of time.

In any case, either online or in person, the class will depend on the teacher’s characters. It also depends on how much the teacher has devised and is making efforts to make the other party feel the class enjoyable and innovative.

I think that it is important to be able to associate with a compatible teacher for a long time before long as to which school is better or which system is better.

Please take many trial lessons until you meet a good teacher or your perfect-match teachers! EIGORU-en is the only in the industry that offers unlimited free trial lessons!  😀

♦ Questions before Starting the Trial Lesson

Q: Is it possible to receive lessons in text/chatting via LINE or Skype?

A: Yes, you can also take lessons with text chat alone thru LINE or Skype.

WS000003

Chat lesson contents can be words only.
You can take lessons via chat thru Skype and LINE.
Normally, online lesson is done via Video Call using Skype from a personal computer, but many had requested us to offer lessons via chat only thru smartphones and tablets in Skype and LINE.

Advantages of taking lessons via Chat.
With this, the students have the following merits.
● You can start a lesson via chat with only words, especially if you are not confident in speaking with the teacher on a video call.
● Even if you cannot make a conversation with a video, such as when you are on the move, not in time to go home, you can receive lessons directly from the smartphone with WiFi or data internet connection.
● Of course, you can receive lessons from applications you are accustomed to, which is Skype.

Available teachers for Lessons via Chat.
The scope of the lesson corresponding to the teacher’s profile is displayed as follows.
Since LINE is not much used in the Philippines, teachers with LINE accounts are displayed on the teacher list page with the  following format.

0000-Teacher Nickname
Rate/25min: $0.00
Age: 00
Location: City
Contact: Skype/LINE

④ Sample case when specifying the lesson method.
You can request which lesson method you prefer for the trial lesson and regular lessons (You can freely request and decide which lesson method you hope with the teacher).

-Skype VIDEO Call (default)
-Skype AUDIO Call only
-Skype CHAT mode or Message only
-LINE call with VIDEO
-LINE call with AUDIO only
-Using LINE CHAT mode or Message only

Other points to keep in mind.
● The method of the lesson can be changed by asking the teacher in advance or even before the lesson starts.
● The default lesson method is Skype Video Call.
● Even if you use LINE, the teacher is supposed to always give lessons using a computer or laptop.
● When the student prefers a computer, we recommend to use Skype instead of LINE. The reason is that LINE does not have the function to show the teacher ‘s computer screen to students. Sharing screen is only possible on Skype as of the moment.
● Of course, there is no additional fee, etc. for this function.

Q: Can EIGORU-en staff recommend teachers to students?

A: We are currently not presenting recommended teachers to our students.
The reason is that the staff also has no information beyond what is described in the teacher’s evaluation or reputation record, that each teacher’s evaluation is done by different students and teachers are asked not to do deliberate screening by the staff. Please check the condition of the teacher in the teacher’s list and the evaluation or reputation record per teacher’s profile and you can also decide by having many trial lessons with different teachers.
In addition, there is a communication column for the teacher in ⇒ EIGORU-en Trial Lesson Order Form. You can use that to tell the condition to the teacher and sort it before you actually try his/her class.

Q: How do I set up and use Skype?

A: For details, please see Skype Installation Procedure.

Q: What kind of Webcam and Headset do you recommend?

A: As for the camera, it’s better if the image quality has 8 megapixel up to 16 megapixel. There’s a lot cheap webcam yet with good quality in the market, so please go to the nearest computer shop in your place. Some webcams have integrated microphone already, however, most of them do not have noise cancellation feature, so please disable it in your PC’s microphone settings.

For a headset, it surely must have earphones with microphone. It’d better if it has a noise cancellation feature so that we can take care of your teacher’s ears 😉

We highly recommend external speakers and microphone if the student is a child, so that the guardians or parents can listen to the teacher also and assist the child.

Q: I take online lessons from other schools, but will problems occur if I take EIGORU-en lessons at the same time?

A: Since we have fixed lesson schedule with the teacher, there is no problem at all if you know your schedule perfectly.

Q: Is it possible to receive lessons from multiple teachers?

A: Yes, it is! Many such students do the same. However, payment will be different for each teacher, please understand that the transfer fee (transfer fee in Japan to us) will be applied for each teacher.

Q: Can I attend classes from overseas? How do you pay at that time?

A: You can attend classes from overseas. The payment method at that time will be via PayPal (please Google or search PayPal so you will see the screen in your area).

Students must bear the PayPal Transfer Fee. However, there are different transfer fee rates per country, so please search the transfer fee for your area. Anyway, please send payment with at least 5% of your lesson fee. For example, your lesson fee is $10, then please transfer $12.

If the transfer fee is not deducted (not displayed) at the time of transfer, please add 5% and transfer it.

Q: Can I take lessons on iPad or iPhone?

A: Yes, you can take lessons even if you are at work. However, taking online lessons via Smartphones and Tablets would be difficult because the screen is small and typing in small screen would definitely consume time. But it’s up to you 😉

On the other hand, it’s difficult to attach the Lesson Sheet excel type on iPhone or iPad to our Step3-form. Please acknowledge that the Lesson Sheet must be exchanged from excel to photo type, please kindly request PHOTO Lesson Sheet to your teacher.

Q: Can I use my own lesson materials or have used before?

A: Please send it to your teacher using Skype etc. if you have any problem of copyrights with your materials. If it is a word file or photo, then it is also possible to send it via  email.

You can also take pictures of your textbook and send the pictures to your teacher via Email at least 24 hours before your scheduled lesson.

♦ Trial Lesson / Question after Starting Lesson

If problem/trouble occurs…

Q: I tried to apply for a trial lesson, but my teacher did not answer.

A: If you didn’t receive a reply/email from the teacher even after 48 hours have elapsed since you applied, then please follow the procedures below.

⇩ Step 1: Please check if it is sorted out as spam or junk mail on WEB mail.
❋ If you are using a local mailer such as Windows Live Mail, Outlook, please be sure to launch web mail and check the spam/junk mail box.

⇩ Step 2: If you couldn’t find the reply mail from the teacher, then please submit the trial application form again.
This time, in the field of “Entry Purpose” at the beginning of the entry item in “EIGORU-en Trial Lesson Order Form”, please select this “2nd application, urgent reply required.” Please submit this again as a reminder to the teacher.

⇩ Step 3: It seems that the teacher has some special reasons if there’s still no reply after 24 hours have elapsed from the day you resubmitted the trial application form and we are very sorry for this inconvenience but could you please go back and edit EIGORU Trial Application Form and find the field about “Entry Purpose” and select “No reply after the 2nd request” then submit it again. We will send a few instructions afterward.

Explanation 1:
The teacher is supposed to reply all the students’ emails including the trial application mail within two days (within 48 hours) from date of submitted trial application form. If there are troubles such as blackouts, mail not arrived, unexpected troubles and mistakes, our school staff  will post an emergency message on EIGORU Emergency Message Board. Of course, our teachers have a protocol to reply quickly however 99% of the cause of no reply from the teacher is that students do not know where to see spam mails or junk mails in their email accounts. Please expect that trial lesson will be terminated if students neglect to check them.

Students tend to think they’re ignored but in many cases both the teacher and the trial requests from students were already answered but maybe there’s misunderstanding. If you do not reply, do not leave it, sorry to trouble you, but please process “⇩ Step 3” above.

Explanation 2:
❋ If you are using a local mailer such as Windows Live Mail, Outlook, please be sure to launch web mail and check the spam/junk mail box.

The local mailer is a type which downloads mail from the reception server to the local personal computer side, such as Windows live mail, Outlook, Thunderbird, Becky! If you do not see the mail on the Internet site or web browser, please think that you are viewing with the local mailer.

Even if you use a web mail address such as Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo mail, etc., as long as you are browsing with a local mailer, you are downloading with a local mailer.

❋ Since many junk e-mails are stopped on the student’s server and are not downloaded to the local mailer on a personal computer, you won’t see the e-mail even if you look for a local mailer’s spam mail box. When viewing junk e-mails, please be sure to log in to a web mail from the Internet and look for junk mail folder/label.
❋ Please be aware that it may be sorted into inbox mails, even if they are not sorted into spam in the past.

Explanation 3:
Not only the special providers  such as plala, sonet, Jcom, other provincial providers etc., cannot receive mail from the teacher, but also read emails sent by the students as a virus mail, the server side of the provider warns without notice, it may be discarded. In that case, the following action will be taken.

❋ Create a free email account such as Google or Gmail and/or Yahoo Mail and use it as a WEB mail. Taking this method will solve the 100% problem so far (Michigon, dispatched to the spam mail box of WEB mail. There are things to be done, please be sure to check.)

Q: I didn’t receive a call from my teacher.

A: There is a possibility of a blackout or Internet failure. Please follow the steps below to respond.

Step 1: Please make sure there is no posted emergency message from the teacher on EIGORU Emergency Message Board.

Step 2: Please make sure to send email to your teacher with the Email Subject/Title “Please inform me your situation.”

Example email to your teacher:

Hi teacher!
You did not come to our lesson for today.
Please mail me your situation and next open schedule soon.
Regards,
Student

Step 3: Please give up waiting for a trial lesson with the teacher even if you waited for 10 minutes and sent the sample message above.

Step 4: There’s a rule for teachers about sending emails to students after Internet has restored. Please adjust the following dates with your teacher.

Note: Even if you leave a message in Skype chat, please do not use Skype message for discussing important matters, because you can only receive messages when both student and teacher are logged in to Skype at the same time. You will not receive messages when one of you is offline. Skype is not similar to mail and LINE, so please do not practice talking or chatting important messages via Skype.

Explanation 1:
In any case, there is a rule for teachers that they should not be absent without notice and we also impose a penalty including cancellation of contract, so please think that it is basically not absurd to be absent. Even when sudden blackouts or internet is very poor, we have a rule to contact our teacher staff in the Philippines via SMS (Short Mail only between mobile phones) before absence and post it on EIGORU Emergency Message Board. However, when there’s a wide range of power failure or internet is cut, there are things that mobile phones cannot communicate with and from the SMS to the emergency message board there are also time delays due to manual postings. Please understand.

Explanation 2:
The teacher’s absence without permission is subject to penalty unless there are inevitable circumstances. If the violation and penalty are not stated on the lesson sheet that was sent by the teacher, please ask the teacher for correction via mail (Skype prohibited).

Note: When requesting a penalty for absence without contact, first, please confirm the mail time of sending from the teacher, not the time of posting on the emergency board. In the case that the posting time from the teacher is before the lesson start time but the posting time of SMS was slow/late, the cost of the penalty will be borne by us, not by the teacher, so please mail us (eigoru.office@gmail.com) with your private email address.

❋ To contact our support staff or for other inquiries, send them to eigoru.office@gmail.com and don’t forget to indicate your topic or mail subject when composing a message via email.

Explanation 3:
Please mail us at eigoru.office@gmail.com when you wish to improve something about your teacher.

Q: There is no reply from my teacher.

A: If you didn’t receive an email from your teacher within 48 hours, then please follow the procedure below.

⇩ Step 1: Please check if it is sorted out as spam or junk mail on WEB mail.
❋ If you are using a local mailer such as Windows Live Mail, Outlook, please be sure to launch web mail and check the spam/junk mail box.

⇩ Step 2: Please e-mail the teacher again.

⇩ Step 3: If there is no reply even after 24 hours, some special cause should be expected, and we’d like to apologize for any inconvenience but please mail us at eigoru.office@gmail.com including your submitted data from the trial lesson form.

❋ To contact our support staff or for other inquiries, send them to eigoru.office@gmail.com and don’t forget to indicate your topic or mail subject when composing a message via email.

Q: I missed the lesson without being able to contact the teacher in advance (Student’s Unnotified Absence).

A: Please apologize to your teacher and inform him/her the date and time of the next lesson by e-mail (Skype is prohibited).

Even if the student didn’t attend the class, still the teacher have waited for 10 minutes. Thus, student’s absence without prior notice is forbidden. Please note that if the student did not appear after 10 minutes, we will treat it as absent, and we will note 25 minutes lesson fractions on the lesson sheet as if the lesson was carried out . Even in the case of continued absence without notice, even the number of days absent will be charged, so please get in touch with your teacher.

❋ In addition, please do not exclude frequent schedule change and cancellation except when it is unavoidable (because the teacher cannot secure/keep other students).

Q: I want to change lesson schedule (we will charge if more than the given limit)

A: Please apologize to your teacher and inform him/her the date and time of the next lesson by e-mail (Skype is  prohibited).

❋ In addition, please do not exclude frequent schedule change and cancellation except when it is unavoidable (because the teacher cannot secure/keep other students).

In the past, students who took lessons with sudden lesson cancellations and/or change of schedules became stubborn as cancelling lessons repeatedly consumed most of the teacher’s lesson time without payment. Thus, many teachers have requested to make a special policy for this. Thank you for understanding this situation.

Lesson Cancellation and Change of Schedule for Student’s convenience must be paid with the following rules.

❋ When changing the schedule of lessons due to student’s unexpected circumstances or when canceling, please distinguish between “with charge” and “when not charged” by e-mail to the teacher, please be sure to state the following text in the email.

Sample Preset Message 1
Absence with No Charge

Hi Teacher!
I will absent your lesson tomorrow. My absence is not yet beyond the over time limit. Please don’t write lesson minutes on the lesson sheet. Thank you.
Regards,
Student

Sample Preset Message 2
Absence With Charge

Hi Teacher!
I will absent your lesson tomorrow. My absences have reached the over time limit. Please write lesson minutes on the lesson sheet and send me. Thank you.
Regards,
Student

Explanation
Here are some provisions as for student’s absence regulations or changing of lesson schedule.

(1) Absence and schedule change without prior notice is charged. They’re counted as a normal lesson.
Please understand that if the student was absent or changed schedule without prior notice to the teacher, then we will count the number of repeated unnotified absences as having normal lessons. The teacher will write the lesson minutes on the lesson sheet.

(2) If the absences exceeded from the allowance
There’s a charge per absence if it’s beyond the given limit. The teacher will write the lesson minutes on the lesson sheet as if the lesson was carried out.

Please understand that excessive absenteeism beyond the given absence limit will be charged as normal lessons.

Allowed Absence Limit for Students

depending on the lesson contract agreed with the teacher

■ There’s a maximum of 4 allowed absences if students have lesson contracts of 4-7 days a week.
(about 16-28 days/month)

■ There’s a maximum of 3 allowed absences if students have lesson contracts of 2-3 days a week.
(about 8-12 days/month)

■ There’s a maximum of 1 allowed absence if students have lesson contracts of 1 day a week.
(about 4 days/month)

❋ EIGORU-en is different from other reservation type of schools because of the monthly fixed payment which limits the contract, regardless of the presence or absence of the student even with or without prior notice, and even if the lesson schedule is changed.

Here in EIGORU-en, assigning vacant time of the teachers for other students is not be possible. Therefore, we kindly ask students to refrain from sudden change of lesson schedule or having many absences regardless of advanced notification, possibly, please do not change lesson schedule as much as possible. Please understand that we will collect payment and stop your contract if the number of changes is too much. It’s also the same with the teacher if they change student’s lesson schedule contract or absent very often. Thus, please abstain from using EIGORU-en if you think that you do not have to pay for the charge.

❋ In addition, student’s tardiness is also counted as done lesson.
The teacher’s protocol is to wait for the student for ten minutes at the beginning of the class. So if you did not attend the class, then we will treat it as absent without prior notice. It is charged as a paid lesson.

Q: I don’t know how to cancel trial application.

A: Please contact the teacher about trial lesson cancellation by one of the following methods.

Example Reply/Email to your Teacher
I’m sorry but I hope to cancel your trial lesson because I already found my teacher. Thank you for understanding.

⇩ If you don’t know yet your teacher’s email address or there’s no reply from teacher regarding your trial lesson application, then please go back to “EIGORU Trial Lesson Order Form” and find the field for “Entry Purpose” then select “Cancel trial application” and submit it again.

Q: I can’t open the Lesson Sheet in Excel file format / I can’t attach it to Email, can you send it as a photo file?

A: If you do not have an Excel software, please use the following free software.

● ⇒ Excel Online (Microsoft)
●Microsoft Excel
 ⇒For Android
 ⇒For iOS

Q: Can you make a Lesson Sheet in a PHOTO file format? Because I can’t attach Excel type of Lesson Sheet to Step3-Form or EIGORU-en Billing form.

A: Some Smartphones and Tablets such as iPhone and iPad cannot attach an excel file to an email form in a normal way. When you cannot send Excel type through the Step-form or billing form, then please mail and ask your teacher to send you a PHOTO type of the Lesson Sheet (jpg or image file type).

❋ You can also use ⇒ EIGORU-en Easy-Mail Form because there is a field of the same request.

Example email to your teacher:

Hi teacher!
I can’t see or attach excel file, so could you send me a PHOTO Lesson Sheet from now?
Regards,
Student

NOTE: Since a PHOTO Lesson Sheet is an image/photo file (jpg file), students won’t be able to add / correct / sign OK and/or sign YES on the lesson sheet, so if students hope to modify it, then they must inform the teacher through email (Skype is prohibited). Students must inform which information should be modified and/or corrected.

Q: There’s a mistake on the Lesson Sheet sent from the teacher.

A: You, as a student can correct the mistakes on the Lesson Sheet and you should send it or inform it to your teacher thru email within 24 hours from the time you received the Lesson Sheet. Also, please include in your message or mail that the teacher must send back the correct lesson sheet to you.

❋ If you use a PHOTO Lesson Sheet, you won’t be able to modify/correct it or leave your sign OK or YES there, by then, please send email to your teacher to request to edit it for you or you can also fill-up this ⇒ EIGORU-en Easy-Mail Form.

Q: Teacher committed a violation, but it is not listed on the Lesson Sheet.

When the teacher committed a violation, the teacher is supposed to define the deduction/penalty on the Lesson Sheet. The teacher will deduct the penalty depending on the violation type. So the payment amount of the student will be reduced because of the deduction. If the teacher did not list the penalty, then the student should take corrective action and inform this to the teacher through email (Skype is prohibited).

❋ If you use a PHOTO Lesson Sheet, you won’t be able to modify/correct it or leave your sign OK or YES there, by then, please send email to your teacher to request to edit it for you or you can also fill-up this ⇒ EIGORU-en Easy-Mail Form.

❋ Teacher was late for over 2 minutes (-10mins.)
❋ Teacher was absent without notification thru email or SMS/Emergency Board (-15mins.)

❋ No mail reply from the tutor after 48 hours (-15mins)
❋ Teacher’s Web-cam was off with no agreement (-10mins)

Q: Lesson sheet is not sent after each lesson.

A: You should ask your teacher or make an agreement regarding when to send the Lesson Sheet. So please kindly send an email and request your teacher to send you the Lesson Sheet every after each lesson. Perhaps, we recommend to send the Lesson Sheet on the last date of the contract for you and your teacher’s convenience.

Example email to your teacher:

Hi teacher!
Please send me lesson sheet after each lesson.
Regards,
Student

Note: Once again, you can talk about this or make an agreement with your teacher as for when to send the Lesson Sheet for both sides’ convenience. However, we highly recommend to our teachers that they must send the lesson sheet every after a lesson on the first week of a new contract, so that the students are still active and still communicating with their teachers via email.

Q: I leave a message in Skype IM / Chat, but my teacher hasn’t read it yet.

A: We have a strong policy about Skype IM (Instant Message) or Chat that is prohibited to use after the class when it comes to chatting or sending messages regarding important matters. Please read the provided information below.

Please do not use Skype IM/Chat after the class to interact with the teacher.

Skype IM or Chat is a mechanism that both messages are sent and received only when both sender and receiver happen to come online. Also, if you sent a Skype message but the receiver was offline, it won’t be received or read until you both go online. Same as when the teacher sent a message to you while you were offline. And you go online but the teacher’s Skype is off already, then you won’t be able to see the teacher’s message. This is where misunderstanding often happens.

In addition, even if oneself is online, there’s also a possibility that the other person will sign out Skype or will not read the message instantly.

As you can see, Skype Chat differs greatly from email so please do not use it for making promises or talking important matters with the teacher. Skype Chat will be sent and received directly if both sides are online, not via server.

Q: I sent email to the teacher but it was sent back to me with the email title stating “Your message was waitlisted.”

A: Some teachers use “Boxbe” for spam email elimination software, with the email title stating “Your message was waitlisted” and it will be sent back to the sender. In this case, since there is a possibility that the mail has not arrived to the teacher, please send the mail to us and we will forward it to the teacher.

Other Important Information

Q: When can I send payment?

A: When a lesson contract is completed (about 4 weeks from the date of the first continued lesson), then your  teacher will send you Step3-Request Mail about “EIGORU Billing.” Please start processing and transfer the payment within 7 days from the date you received Step3-Request Mail.

Save a copy of your recent Lesson Sheet in your PC or Smartphone. Please confirm that there’s no mistake in the contents of the lesson sheet, then please fill in the columns for sign OK and YES and lastly attach it in the “Step3-form”.

Please be well informed about this.

❋ Direct transaction between student and teacher is strictly prohibited. If the student failed on this, then we will terminate the teacher from our school as well as stop all the student’s lesson contracts and seize the teacher’s salary. Please be well informed about this.

Q: I’d like to change my teacher or I’d like to try other teachers.

A: Please send email to your present teacher and inform that you will stop lesson at once. Certainly, there’s a field in the Step3-form regarding “Lesson Continuation”, then please select “I will stop lesson at once.”

❋ Of course, as we’ve said on our home page, you can take unlimited trial lessons with different teachers, but only 5x in a week! In fact, we have many students who take regular lessons with multiple teachers.

Q: I want to Continue / Decline my new teacher’s lesson contract.

■ I’d like to continue the lesson contract.
Please inform your teacher if you’d like to continue lesson with him/her thru email. A new lesson sheet will be sent to you after the first continued lesson. As long as you have agreed to continue lesson for the next 4 weeks, the teacher will create a new lesson sheet and send it, so please continue with the new lesson sheet.

❋ If there is a schedule change, please talk to your teacher; adjust by conversation or thru email as much as possible.
❋ You can start a lesson with a new contract even if you have not completed yet the previous payment processing.
❋ Please notice if there’s 25 minutes trial lesson on the 2nd lesson sheet-contract, it must be deleted by the teacher. Please kindly remind/mail your teacher to delete it. Once again, do not use Skype IM / Chat after the class and penalty will be charged to the teachers if they forgot to remove it.

■ Please tell your teacher if you do not want to continue.
Please send email to your present teacher and inform that you will stop lesson at once. Certainly, there’s a field in the Step3-form regarding “Lesson Continuation”, then please select “I will stop lesson at once.”

Q: I want to postpone the lesson for a while

A: Even if you postpone a lesson for a while (for example 2 weeks) due to the student’s convenience, the lesson fee will be charged to keep the teacher even during the holiday period. Therefore, if you are taking a break for a while and you do not want to pay the lesson fee during that time, basically, you have to terminate the contract even if it’s in the middle of the contract, please stop and pay the lesson fee. Please inform the teacher directly by email when to resume class. (Please consult with your teacher for details).

Q: I’d like to Cancel / Stop my lesson in the middle of the contract.

A: If you want to quit in the middle of the contract, please make sure to send email to the teacher requesting to stop the lesson even if it’s in the middle of the contract. And please don’t forget to include Cc: eigoru .cc.noreply@gmail.com so that we can have a copy (email history) of each email you send to the teacher.

Note: Please note that unnotified and unavoidable absences as well as left unattended will be charged.

Example email to teacher:

Hi Teacher!
I would like to stop your lesson because [tell your reason].
Please send me Step3-Request Mail with the latest lesson sheet.
I will send you Step3-form with the paid lesson sheet.
Thank you.
Regards,
Student

After sending the sample message above, then you will receive Step3-Request Mail with lesson sheet attachment from your teacher soon. Now, you must download the Lesson Sheet and check if the contents in the lesson sheet are all correct and leave the complete sign OK and YES. Then you must send payment and fill up the Step3-form after the payment, attach the lesson sheet there and submit it.

Anyway, please send email to your present teacher and inform that you will stop lesson at once. Certainly, there’s a field in the Step3-form regarding “Lesson Continuation”, then please select “I will stop lesson at once.” And to remind you, you will only need to pay for the amount of the done lesson minutes.

❋ Of course, as we’ve said on our home page, you can take unlimited trial lessons with different teachers, but only 5x in a week! In fact, we have many students who take regular lessons with multiple teachers.

Q: How do I change my Email Address which was registered for a trial lesson?

A: You can easily inform/mail the teacher and us thru ⇒ EIGORU-en Easy-Mail Form

Note: When you modify or change new information especially having a new email address, please inform us (EIGORU Staff and Teacher) as soon as possible. We need the student’s new email address so that we can remind both teacher and student to never forget the use of Cc: Cc: eigoru .cc.noreply@gmail.com in every email transaction.

Reason: Students’ email addresses are fixed in principle. Because EIGORU does not separately register and manage the data of the student’s information in order to set the management cost to 0 (zero). In EIGORU, students’ mail transactions/history are searched using the email address which was entered in the trial application as the keyword and we use email address to check mail transactions between students and teacehrs. Therefore, the email address registered from the trial application form is very important.

Q: Can I send one-time payment in advance for couple of months’ contracts?

A: We are very sorry, but we do not correspond to prepayment at the moment.

Q: How do I call a Philippine teacher’s mobile phone in case of emergency?

A: “International telephone identification number” is varied depending on the phone carrier / model / contract you are using. Philippine Country Code is this +63 which substitutes the number 0 of the mobile phone number.

For example,
Teacher’s mobile number is 0922-1234-567, then change it to +639221234567

Take note that there’s a charge when calling abroad. In addition, since the telephone charge from the Philippines is quite expensive, please avoid forcing the teacher to call back.

Q: Can I send email to my teacher’s cellphone?

A: When we say a cellphone, it is far different from a smartphone. Cellphone is mainly used for sending SMS/text message and calling, while Smartphone has many features like sending emails, connecting to the internet and other social media. Unfortunately, not all the teachers have a smartphone and if they have a smartphone, not all of them have credit load or payment for internet data. You can send email but don’t expect that they will send a reply soon because some of them don’t have internet data. Therefore, in case of a power outage, or no internet etc., we won’t be able to instantly contact you.

Just in case you haven’t received email from the teacher, please go to EIGORU Emergency Message Board so you can check if the teachers have sent us SMS already to report their situation.

In addition, since SMS fee to abroad from the Philippines is quite expensive, please avoid forcing the teacher to reply back. Thank you.

Q: The paid amount from the previous Lesson Sheet is duplicated on the New Lesson Sheet contract.

A: In EIGORU system, when the payment was done via “STEP3-form”, then the previous lesson fees paid must be not be shown on the new lesson sheet contract. So your teacher might unintentionally sent it wrong. If the teacher has sent you the lesson sheet with mistakes on the paid lessons, please request to correct the new lesson sheet contract information and send it back to you.

Example email to the teacher:

Hi teacher!
I got the lesson sheet today.
However this one is old.
I paid for this lesson sheet.
Please make new lesson sheet and send me.
Regards,
Student

Q: There seems to be multiple email addresses in EIGORU, please tell me how to use them properly.

A: EIGORU has two email addresses.

eigoru.office@gmail.com
= This is the address when you contact the EIGORU office.

eigoru.cc.noreply@gmail.com
= This is the email address where we receive all emails between the teachers and students. Enter it in cc: and use it. Please note that e-mail to this address is not seen unless a problem occurs.

Q: I want my child to take my teacher’s lesson, too. Do I have to apply for a new trial lesson?

A: You can simply discuss with with your teacher and decide the schedule and so on.

Q: Is it possible to use one Lesson Sheet for my family members?

A: Yes, it is. You may use one lesson sheet if you have kids or spouse to share it with. You can also request to the teacher if you want to increase or decrease number of lesson days, lesson minutes, etc. Please directly contact/mail your teacher. There is no need to contact EIGORU Staff.

Q: There are times that Skype Video stops and sometimes image quality is bad, what should I do?

A:
1. Causes of blurry image during Skype Videocalling.
The internet connection is poor (Rotational blackouts/brownout, typhoons, etc. do affect the internet connection, especially if you are using wireless or Wi-Fi only, it is vulnerable to climate.)
The processing power of the Personal Computer is low. The teacher basically has no problem with the PC’s specification, but the processing will drop if the student’s PC’s CPU is single core etc.

2. Corrective actions.
Turn off the video, use audio call only.
When the internet connection is bad, you can ask to reschedule the lesson, and do not overdo it at that time.
If the cause is the poor processing ability of the student’s computer, then the student should try to turn off the firewall and close unnecessary applications during the class such as browsers, games, music, etc., and you can turn them on again after the class.

Q: The internet connection is bad, what should I do?

A: The internet connection in the Philippines may be worsen depending on timing (weather and electricity) even by the same teacher. There is no particular teacher with bad internet always. There is no a very good solution as of now. In some cases, connection would be better if you turn off each other’s video during the class.

Troubleshooting

Q: I entered some wrong information on the Step3-Form.

A: If ever you entered some wrong information, then please inform us immediately. Please send email to eigoru.office@gmail.com and state your wrong details there.

Q: I cannot attach the Excel type Lesson Sheet in the Step3-form, could you send a PHOTO type instead?

Q: I paid a different amount which is not the same from the Lesson Sheet.

A: Please let us (EIGORU-en Staff) know the situation through sending us email to eigoru.office@gmail.com. We will discuss countermeasures.

Information to Announce:
-Student’s Email Address
-Student’s Name
-Payment Transfer Date
-PayPal account mail address
-Status explanation such as correct transfer amount, content of mistake.

Explanation:
Students must never increase ( give a tip/token) or reduce the amount lesson fee payment, please do not make such transfer. Remittance to overseas will be subject to restriction on money laundering even if it is above the amount stated on the lesson sheet or even low, so you cannot remit to the teacher. If you did it, we have a general rule that you should refund after PayPal repayment (PayPal transfer fee, refund fee, credit withdrawal fee (4 dollar + 4.4%, etc.) should be borne.

Q: I’m already paid before I receive Step3-Request Mail from my teacher.

A: Please let us (EIGORU-en Staff) know the situation through sending us email to eigoru.office@gmail.com. We will discuss countermeasures.

Information to Announce:
-Student’s Email Address
-Student’s Name
-Payment Transfer Date
-PayPal account mail address
-Status explanation such as correct transfer amount, content of mistake.

Q: Payment was delayed for more than 7 days (or Reminder Email has arrived).

A: If you haven’t done Step3-form within 7 days after receiving “Step3-Request Mail” from the teacher, a reminder mail will be sent at a later date. Please note that we may add an administrative processing fee of 3 dollar per reminder email procedure.

❋ Please take note also that if you didn’t pay your lesson fee, then we will call PayPal to freeze your account.

❋ If the Step3-form is not submitted/sent to the teacher within 7 days, there’s a rule for teachers to stop the lesson until the student sends the Step3-form. The teacher and EIGORU Staff do not know the transfer info such as payee’s name, the transfer date etc. unless the Step3-form arrives. Please understand that we cannot confirm whether we received payment even if we tell the teacher that the lessons are paid already, so please be sure to fill-up “Step3-form.”

Q: BIG Penalty for Misconduct & Unpaid Lesson Fee

We will charge a big penalty of $50 as for the Penalty Charge to the students who are found guilty of immorality and/or misconduct as well as who didn’t pay the Lesson Fee after 2 weeks of waiting time. We will send a “Collection Letter” to the student’s PayPal Account so that PayPal Management will deduct any available fund to their PayPal account and send it to us until it’s completed. And after 30 days of not paying it, we will send student’s complete information to PayPal and request to ban their PayPal accounts so that they will never be able to use PayPal for lifetime.

♦ Other

Q: Can I take lesson from overseas?

Definitely YES! We are very please to accept students from overseas as long as the student has an active PayPal Account. But do mind that students must bear the PayPal fee.

However, students residing in China might not be able to use Google docs, YouTube, etc., but they can give it a try.

Q: How can I know the current lesson fee?

A: The student’s current lesson fee is automatically calculated on the latest lesson that is sent from the teacher. If you see paid lesson date and minutes in the new lesson sheet, maybe the teacher forgot to delete it. So please inform the teacher about the mistake and ask to delete it and send it again thru email (Skype is prohibited).

Q: How is the lesson fee calculated automatically on the lesson sheet?

A: You can see the automatic calculation on the upper left part of the lesson sheet. Each lesson minutes are summed up, multiplied by the unit per lesson minute. To modify the lesson fee you need to change and delete the minutes. In addition, fractions stated in the trial lesson field is not added on the student’s lesson fee. (Trial lesson minute is free!)

Q: What is the PayPal account to transfer payment?

A: You can transfer payment via PayPal after clicking submit button on the Step3-form:

● Your teacher will send you “Step3-Request Mail”after having 4-week lesson contract, please transfer the lesson price that is displayed on the lesson sheet through “⇒ EIGORU-en Step3-form” and attach the completed lesson sheet.
❋You will be redirected to PayPal payment page after clicking the submit button in the ⇒ EIGORU-en Step3-form.

Q: Can I send one-time payment for many teachers’ lesson fees? (Not allowed.)

A: We’re very sorry but EIGORU cannot accept/allow this.
Total of multiple teachers’ lesson fees cannot be paid collectively or one-time payment. After subtracting the transfer fee, you will be asked to refund.

We have a general rule that if you insist or intentionally and/or mistakenly sent bulk payment for multiple teachers’ lesson fees, then we will request for refund after PayPal repayment (PayPal transfer fee, refund fee, credit withdrawal fee (4 dollar + 4.4%, etc.) should be borne..

❋ If the lesson fee per month exceeds $100, please contact us so we will correspond individually. We will ask you to handle clerical work as a corporation.

Q: My family members are taking lessons with the same teacher, can I pay my family’s lesson fee in bulk? (Yes, it’s possible!)

A: If your family members are having the same teacher and want to pay all the lesson fee at once, please consult your teacher such as putting all lesson dates and minutes and other important contents in one lesson sheet.

Example email to teacher:

Hi teacher!
I want you to combine our family’s different lesson sheets to only one lesson sheet. So could you send me one family lesson sheet from now?
Regards,
Student

Q: Can I increase or reduce the amount of lesson sheet fee at the time of transfer?

A: Students must never increase ( give a tip/token) or reduce the amount lesson fee payment, please do not make such transfer. Remittance to overseas will be subject to restriction on money laundering even if it is above the amount stated on the lesson sheet or even low, so you cannot remit to the teacher. If you did it, we have a general rule that you should refund after PayPal repayment (transferred fee, refund fee, credit withdrawal fee (0.4 USD + 4.4%, etc.) should be borne.

Q: How can I know the lesson contract period and lesson contract end date?

A: The lesson CONTRACT PERIOD is about 4 week-cycle (1 month) from the 1st continued lesson date.

As for the END Date of the lesson contract, it’s basically the SCHEDULED END Date but it can be changed if there’s agreement between the teacher and the student. So please kindly discuss it with your teacher.

Please acknowledge that there may be times of cancelling lessons (by student or teacher) due to holidays and vacation days, so please double check it in the lesson sheet. The teacher will send “Step3-Request Mail” on or after the end date of the contract, please double check the lesson dates and minutes, etc.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Please be reminded that you MUST NOT send payment yet. You should wait for the “Step3-Request Mail” with lesson sheet attachment from your teacher. It is about asking for the complete sign OK and sign YES to complete or finish the contract, after that, you can send/transfer payment to us and fill-up the Step3-form.

How to decide the END Date of the Lesson Contract

SCHEDULED END DATE will depend on what days and numbers of lessons in a week.
SCHEDULED END DATE must be the last date of 4 week-cycle of having lessons.

Let’s have two examples of different contracts.
❋ Set your mind that in every 7 days, there must be a number of scheduled lessons to be completed for the 4-week lesson cycle.

Q: How can I pay the teacher for my requested additional workload outside the class time? (Like Test Preparations, help homework, etc.)

A: Please do not ask much from your teacher beyond the class time. If you hope to request additional workload from your teacher, please make sure that the fraction in the lesson sheet you think is reasonable. Please look at the sample information that should be added in the lesson sheet below.

Example,
YY/MM/DD: Additional work minutes for making materials: 25 minutes
In order to avoid troubles, get a consultation in advance and try to make an agreement with the teacher. Some teachers may not be able to refrain even if the number of work increases, so please check to see if the additional workload minutes are too small for the teacher’s hard-work.

Also, please be forewarned that teachers who do not have time to schedule additional workload may not be able to respond, especially if it’s about preparing teaching materials owned by you, teaching materials at school, preparing entrance examination, test preparations, preparatory work often occurs separately, so please give enough consideration to your teacher.

❋ The following information is instructed to the Teacher’s Manual.

Charge for Teacher’s Additional Workload
When your student ask you to do additional work (ex. making special materials for that student only, heavy translation works etc.), you can ask them to accept additional lesson minutes for that additional work before you begin to exert efforts. In this case, you can add the information on the lesson sheet like “additional work minutes for xxxxxx.”

Example,
YY/MM/DD: additional work minutes for making materials: 25 minutes

In any case, teacher and student must agree with the following;
1.You write “additional work minutes for xxxxxx” on the lesson sheet.
2.How many minutes you write on the lesson sheet before starting the work.(You should not add minutes after agreement.)

Example,
Some students wish to pass the entrance examination for kindergarten, elementary school, junior high school, high school, college, graduating college, etc. In these cases, they might send their won materials they’ve got from their schools. If you need to make heavy materials for them, you can ask charge for teacher’s additional work.

Q: How does EIGORU Staff check the payment information?

A: We check it through the payee’s name, date of transfer, transferred amount and etc. which is submitted from the Step3-form done by the student or parents of the students. We match it carefully from our PayPal accounts’ information then delete sensitive information afterward.

❋ Even if the student paid the fees already yet didn’t send the Step3-form, we won’t be able to match or confirm it. The teacher and EIGORU Staff do not know the transfer info such as payee’s name, the transfer date etc. unless the Step3-form arrives. Please understand that we cannot confirm whether we received payment even if we tell the teacher that the lessons are paid already, so please be sure to fill-up the “Step3-form.” Please acknowledge it.

Reference: If you would like to know the process with more information, please see the image below.

Q: Can I correspond to a corporation?

A: If the lesson fee per month exceeds $100, please contact us so we will correspond individually. We will ask you to handle clerical work as a corporation.

Q: Which online dictionary or translator is easy to use during the class?

A: There’s already a free translator from Skype. And there’s a lot of free online dictionaries such as Google Translate and Babylon. Please see it for yourself with additional other free online dictionaries.
https://www.worldlingo.com/en/
⇒ http://www.systranet.com/translate/

❋ You can use this by asking the teacher to type her sentence in Skype IM/Chat, then copy it and paste it on the translator site.

Q: I have a teacher from another school and seems interested in EIGORU-en, how can I help her?

A: You can send us her email address and we will send her email regarding the application requirements. We do communicate thru email only.
Note: The teacher from another online school doesn’t have to quit her present school.

Q: Is there any case where a teacher refuses to continue the lesson contract?

A: Yes, there is. Both students and teachers are our valued customers. For this reason, the teacher can politely decline or stop the lesson contract of any student. We, in EIGORU-en also protect our teachers from excessive stress conditions.
